Located in an incomparable natural enclave Cortijo Las Minas is surrounded by the mountain ranges of Loja and Villanueva del Trabuco, where the river Guadalhorce has its source, to the east and southeast; those of Priego de Córdoba and Rute to the north, which border the immense Iznájar reservoir, that follows the course of the river Genil, and the mountains of Archidona to the west giving onto the unfolding plains of cental Andalusia. of indigenous holm oak forest, arable land, olive and almond groves, hidden among the hills are the Lagunas de Salinas, a natural park which has great vairety of aquatic birds. The main agricultural activity in the area is olive growing, The enormous Iznájar reservoir, only a few kilometres away in the province of Córdoba, is a haven of silence. Between Salinas and Loja there is a practically uninhabited area which is difficult to get to. Streams run through natural forest and form deep gorges where Nature takes control of everything. Riding through this area is a luxury and an unforgettable experience

Salinas is situated in the centre of Andalucía. Our nearest town isArchidonato the west at 10kms from Cortijo Las Minas, and the biggest town in the area isAntequeraat 30 kms from here.Lojais 15 kms to the east. Just north of Cortijo Las Minas is the village ofVillanueva de Tapia, at 4 kms, followed by the town ofIznájarat 20kms and thenRuteat 35km.To the south you will find the villages ofVillanueva del TrabucoandVillanueva del Rosario, and towards MálagaCasabermeja,Colmenarand Villanueva de la Concepción.

There are a lot of things to do and places to visit in this area especially museums, monuments, churches, convents, castles and sites of ancient civilisation in the towns and villages. There are many natural parks and places of great environmental interest to visit. Also there are a lot of other activities for non riders and those who practise more than one sport.
